Lunch at Outback
ROHNERT PARK OUTBACK RESTAURANT
|
|
A number of the Outback family of restaurants have chosen to support
medical research for Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA), a child’s rare genetic disorder with
great hope for a treatment but in need of research
financial help. Outback restaurants are putting on
special fundraiser lunches with the entire ticket
proceeds going to Friedreich’s Ataxia research
through the FA Research Alliance (FARA), an
organization of FA parents and friends that is helping
fund FA research grants around the world. Every
donated dollar goes to a researcher!

FAITH - "Friedreich's Ataxia In the Heart" was started by Bart and Brenda Rupel, parents of Matt Rupel, a junior at Santa Clara High School. Matt was diagnosed in 2004 with Friedreich's Ataxia, a rare inherited disease that causes a progressive loss of coordination and balance and can cause life threatening thickening of the heart. FAITH is a group of Matt's family and friends committed to helping raise funds to help fund the research that is getting tantalizing close to finding a cure. In just the last year alone, great strides have been made and trials have begun on possible drug therapies.
Currently we are preparing for our Third Annual Fundraising Dinner Dance and Auction to be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Sunnyvale Community Center. In the last two years, with the help of contributors like you, the first 2 events raised $70,000, all of which used in the research leading to treatments and a cure for Friedreich's Ataxia. In addition we are proud that we have kept our expenses very low for the events; and our costs to put on the events have averaged about 10%.
By making a tax-deductible merchandise donation or a financial contribution to this year's event, you can show your support for the fight against this deadly disease and gain recognition for your business. Your donation will be published in the event program, which is distributed to over 250 families. We appreciate any level of donation. For this event we have partnered with FARA, the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (federal ID 52-2122720), who will provide you with a letter acknowledging your donation.
Please take a minute today to show your support for research and development into a treatment for this disease. Together we are making a difference - we have FAITH.
Sincerely,
Bart Rupel, Co-chair
Brenda Rupel, Co-chair
Paul Konanz, Treasurer
